Walvis Bay has gone from being a part of a German
colony (South West Africa), to being a part of a League of Nations mandate,
then to being a part of a UN mandate. It's gone from being an area
administered directly by South Africa, to SWA administration and back again.
It's final status as an international exclave of South Africa in a genuinely
foreign country was it's short, last "hurrah" as a special entity.
The exclave was finally "put out of its misery" when it was fully and completely
united with independent Namibia, shortly after Namibia gained its independence.
One could form a specialty collection of Walvis Bay materials only with great difficulty. Such items as those pictured below are very hard to come by.
